Some short stories of weddings I have had the privilege of photographing

I thought it might be helpful to talk you through some of the weddings I have done and show a few selected photographs in a short video. No wedding is to big or small and I am privileged to work with people of all ages, everyone is as important and their wedding day is something special for them to treasure.

I met with Zoe and Thomas in advance of their wedding day to look around the location, do some test shots and agree the style of photography and any special requests. The location was fantastic especially as there was a ruined abbey just 5 minutes walk from the Abbey House Hotel. On the day everything went to plan with the shots of Zoe getting ready and then the ceremony. When it came to do the main shots, the heavens opened and the rain came down. In these situations I always take studio flash so I can take pictures indoors. They never convey the same outdoor feeling but they can still be creative. Luckily we had a break n the weather and Zoe and Thomas were happy to walk to the Abbey where we got some great shots.

I met with Paul and Kayleigh about 3 months before the wedding date. We talked through the day including special requests, style of photography and we looked through examples of my previous work. Paul and Kayleigh gave me a free hand to do a mixture of documentary style pictures plus a few formal ones just to make sure we photographed them alongside important people in their lives.

On the day the weather was fantastic, the location was very traditional and picturesque. Everyone was dressed immaculately and it was a pleasure to work alongside Paul and Kayleigh to provide them with an album of long lasting memories.

I met Suzanne and Marcus in Southport to talk about their wedding before we went on to Victoria Park in Southport to do some pre-wedding shots. This is almost like a mini rehearsal especially when people are not used to being photographed. This really helped Suzanne and Marcus relax in front of the camera and build a good rapport. On the wedding day the weather was superb, everyone was relaxed and felt happy being photographed. I always like to find a good location for the pictures after the ceremony, in most cases it isn't a problem, but with the registry office in the town centre, we decided on a short drive to Victoria Park in Southport. The weather was perfect, everyone had a good time and the pictures were and still are some of my favourites.

This was a really nice location for Jim and Helens wedding. It was at the Hard Days Night Hotel in the centre of Liverpool. With the Beatles theme and the rich culture of Liverpool and the only limiting factor on this shoot was time. Jim and Helen were a great couple to work with and the whole day was very enjoyable, especially the photographs outside the hotel on the street. This captured the essence of the day and it gave Jim and Helen a great set of photographs to bring back memories of their special day.

This was the wedding of Zara and Daniel at Formby Hall near Liverpool. The ceremony and the reception was held at this great location. The photography started with Zara and her bridesmaids getting ready all the way through to the first dance. The weather wasn't too kind to us on the day, however, I managed to get a good mix of documentary style pictures along with a few pictures taken outside when the rain had stopped. The main thing was that the wedding ceremony went well as did the wedding breakfast and the evening party, in and amongst that we got some great shots for Zara and Daniel to keep looking at over the years to bring back the special memories of the day.

I met George and Jean at their house, following a recommendation from one of their friends. They wanted a very low key wedding, but they wanted it done properly. They didn't want hundreds of pictures, just a nice selection to remember the day and capture those special moments where their friends and family were present and enjoying their wedding celebration. The wedding was held at their local church, in Aintree and the reception was held at the West Lancashire Golf Club in Blundellsands. On the day, the weather was perfect and everything went like clockwork and I presented George and Jean with a very special set of memories of their wedding day.
